Mr.Raja Gopal Sunkara, IAS, belongs to the 2015 batch of the Indian Administrative Service (Tamil Nadu cadre) and is presently serving as Joint Secretary, Finance Department, Government of Tamil Nadu. He holds a dual degree in civil engineering and structural engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. He has previously served as the District Collector and Magistrate of Erode, where he gained recognition for introducing innovative technology-driven solutions. One of his notable initiatives was the deployment of IoT-based systems for rural water distribution, which not only improved water availability across villages but also reduced electricity costs by nearly 40%. In addition, he has served as Commissioner of Coimbatore Municipal Corporation and as Executive Director of the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (CMWSSB), where he contributed to strengthening civic infrastructure and urban services.
