Mukundan has over 23 years of experience in infrastructure lending, private equity and venture funding. His extensive experience in Infrastructure Fund Management and has handled the entire cycle of private equity from fund raising, making investments, monitoring and managing exits.

Prior to joining TNIFMC, he was working in UTI Capital in the capacity of Director since 2008 and has been managing as its CEO, since 2015. ln his capacity as CEO of UTI Capital, he has managed two private equity funds, viz., India Infrastructure Development Fund (llDF) and Pragati India Fund. llDF is an infrastructure focused fund while Pragati is a sector agnostic development oriented lmpact Investment Fund.

Prior to UTI Capital, Mukundan has worked for SIDBI for over 13 years, managing investments across infrastructure, healthcare, micro finance (MFls), manufacturing and IT/ITES sectors. He was instrumental in setting up SIDBI Ventures, where he led a team that made 15 venture capital investments in early stage technology companies in India.

He is an engineer and an MFM from JBIMS Mumbai.
